LINO PRINT PORTRAIT - Preperation

To prepare us for this important summative, we did many things in class. We started by learning about how to apply more shade and less line. As well as that, we needed to ad tone to the print, which proved harder than expected

REFLECTION

I worked very hard to complete this ballet lino print. To start with, I was at first very confused about how I was going to do it, since I found the ball on a table very challenging. Additionally, I had to make it mirrored, which added an extra challenge to the whole project!

What Worked Well

I think that it turned out very nicley. I applied tone and shade to my painting, which was hard, but doable. What helped me in this were all the small formatives, like the ball on a table print, and stuff like that. I really did my best on this, and i'm so proud! Something to look at when assesing this is the mirroring applied. I worked very hard trying to mirror, it, looking at the original picture and then converting it. This is one of the ways that one can tel my picture was not traced.

Even Better If

Next time, I want it to be a little more neat. I took my lino home every day and worked on it very hard, which I am proud of. However, I really wanted it to be a more neat picture, even though it turned out abstract-messy in the end! Next time, I want to work on the tutu, making it more believable. I added as much layer and tone as I could into it, but I think if I were to re-do this, I should cut more lines into the tutu. Even so, I am very proud of this painting, its probably the best one I have ever created!

PROCCES - December 15th 2016

We first looked for a picture, in our camera roles or online (mine was from the internet). Then we converted it to black and white, and started marking important points and areas on it. Then, I started to draw onto my lino. This went something like connect the dots, I started with a few points on the lino, and then begun to add more detail. I really wasn't sure how it was going to turn out though, until I finally saw the print. Even though I am not a professional artist, I think that it turned out very admirable, compared to my self portrait at the start of the year. One thing that was hard to do was mirror the lino so that in the end, my print was the same as the original picture.
