EGG ON A TABLE DRAWING
This was a summative drawing that we had to create with the use of shade and line. We needed to identify shadows and Colors by only using black and white. We practiced this by drawing a 'ball on table' with gradient styles and many different shades. However, the challenge was to make the drawing 3D, which was harder than expected.
REFLECTION - September 23rd 2016
In class we were give 2 periods to complete a drawing of a ball on a table. We were asked to use as many techniques as possible to create the best drawing of an egg on a table. I worked very hard on my drawing, and that resulted in a hurting hand. However, I practiced drawing the ball on a table, applying my earlier knowledge of shading to transmute one color into another gradually. I tried to make it look as 3D as possible, proving harder than it sound. Nevertheless, is turned out okay. I think that i made some of the areas sort of pointy, for example, under the ball are two upside down mountains that I really was not happy with. We only had a given amount of time, so when I realized the triangles it was time to hand in our drawing. Additionally, there is a very dark area to the left of the egg. I found this as the darkest of all, as it was folded in such a way that not much light touched that area. I tried to only draw it, but I wanted to emphasize the color, so I shaded it. I think that it was a bad choice to do so, as it contrasted with my egg. Nonetheless, I really like the shade I applied to the bottom of the paper, because it made it look like the paper was of the table, which it was. Overall, I did my best, and I am proud of that. I do have a lot to improve on for next time, but I will have this reflection to look back onto!
What Worked Well
I actually am very proud of this peice. I think that it worked out well, and in it are displayed my best efforts I think that my shading on the peice was very good. One could easily tell the low and high areas of the paper. Additionally, I am very proud of my egg, which I think probably looks the best that I can make it.
Even Better If
I think that my drawing is good, but there are a few things that i wish I didn't do. For example, there is a very big, dark line drawn across the top right on my paper. I was trying to show that there was a very big crease there, but it ened up looking a little different. Also, there are some parts in my drawing where lines of graphite stick out from. I really should have fixed those as well, and, if we would've had more time than I think I would.

Tools used:
-
A real egg
-
A4 paper
-
Graphit pencils
-
A clear plastic sheet
-
White board marker
-
Special drawing paper
-
An important tip is to look at the type of pencil you are using, some types are more fit for this project than others!
PROCESS
First off, we were given a piece of paper and an egg. We scrunched up our paper, then placed the egg on top of it. We observed the different shadows that fell upon it, and then begun with our drawing. To start with, we were given a clear plastic sheet, with which we traced the most important parts of the objects, and then we traced the lines from the plastic onto our paper. First I drew all 4 edges, then connected the dots. I applied shadow under the first line, to make it look like the paper had risen up from the table. next I added a little detail into the edges and the lines connecting them. I know I didn't get it just right, or perfect. But it resembles the paper that we had. We were asked to do this to start getting to know shades better, shading the egg just like we shaded the ball on the table! This was necessary to prepare us for the next part of the assesment, the ball on a table painting and then print.
