BALL ON A TABLE PAINTING

We were asked to first draw, and then pant the ball on the table before cutting it out from lino and printing it. We needed to make sure we applied shade, even though we could one used 1 color, white. This was to help us to prepare for our next project, the ball on a table print, made of lino.

REFLECTION - October 1st 2016

The painting was very easy. We were asked to draw an accurate plan for our lino, and then paint it only using white. I did make it very messy, since it was a rough draft. However, I think that it looks okay. We needed to apply use of shade with only one color, meaning that we gradually needed to zone out the strokes of that we painted. I think next time I could stay 'more in the lines', as in make it even more accurate by creating a neater painting. Nevertheless, once looking at it, one can see that I started very thick with the paint, and then had some very thin layers, so thin you could see through. I think that was also an effect that made my painting more interesting. Overall, I think I did okay. Really, I just need it to be more neat.

BALL ON A TABLE PRINT

To prepare us for our summative task, we were asked to first draw a ball on a table, then paint one, and then cut one out on a peice of lino. One of the most important things we had to be careful of when doing this task was to use less line and more shade. This is was made this task a little harder.

PROCESS

We mostly based this lino on our painting, as seen above. One thing that we really had to think about was the whatever we cut ou on the lino, the print would be oppisite, which is why the ball on my lino is on the left. To be honest, it was very hard. We had to be cautious when we were cutting out the lino, because at least 3 of my friends hurt themselves with the tools (shown on the bottom right). When the cut-out was completed, we applied in with a roller-brush and printed on the printing-press.

TOOLS:

  • A5 lino peice

  • 6 lino cutting tools

  • black ink

  • Paper

  • Lino printing press

RELFLECTION - December 1st 2016

This ball on a table print was harder than i had originally expected it to be, which is actully why I did it twice. To be honest, it was hard. However, I did as much work on it as I could, putting maximum effort into my work. I really think that this helped me a lot to prepare for my summative, the portrait. I am very happy with the amount of work that i have completed in art this year, and I am looking forward to our next unit!
